Why reinvent the wheel when we made it so simple?
Growing up in Germany, I remember from the time I was a little boy, I was always building something. In the early years it was simple toys made from small cardboard boxes, paper, thread spools etc.
A little bit later I made toys and models with wooden and metal construction sets. I did not only make models from plans, soon I scaled down big machinery and vehicles and constructed the models myself using parts from the Mechano or Matador sets. Model railway was an important hobby for me and also had a great time building ships, airplanes and model railway in all sizes. Wood was always a favorite material for me.
After an eventful working life, where woodworking and model building took a back seat, the time finally came to pick up my hobby again following my retirement to Australia.
Having difficulties building models to plans which require a vast number of expensive precision tools, or even parts from a London flea market (yes, one book used this in the instructions, seemed like an expensive way for anyone not in England to procure a tool), I decided to design my own plans. Plans for average people with average woodworking skills like myself, but who want better than average results.
So I began to design and build toys for my grandkids and models for myself. A web-page was made with help of friends and things escalated from there.
I was asked to give courses at the local high school, it was great experience and a chance to get my plans tested in a larger group. I discovered that the average person can make toys and models from my plans without having to buy expensive tools.
Now I enjoy my hobby and have made many friends on the internet, from all over the world. I hope you will get real enjoyment from my plans and learn the skills to create family heirlooms for your family too!
